Favorite Books & a Giveaway

The other day I was thinking about some of my all-time favorite books.  Some of these I would like to go back and read again, but there are so many others I need to get to first.

Because I'm in the mood, I want to share one of my favorite books with you.  I guess as a sort of giveaway.  Just for fun.  And just because this book is written fantastically and should be enjoyed.

However, I'm not going to tell you what the book is until I announce the winner.  I know, the suspense will kill you all.  Here are a few clues as to what book it is.
  1. I read it as a sophomore in high school in English and did a group project/presentation with two of my very best friends.
  2. Shortly after I met my husband, we discovered that this book was a favorite for both of us.
  3. The protagonist is a teenage boy.
To enter, answer the following question in a comment.  If someone referred you to this post, put their name in your comment as well.  I will give the referrer an extra entry.

What is one of your all-time favorite books?

I love getting recommendations and maybe one day I will actually get to read some of them.  That, however, depends on if I ever tackle this beast.

I'll announce the winner next Friday, so you have until then to enter.

Happy Friday!

Apparently I'm bad at reading instructions--I almost entered by writing what I think the book is that you're giving away. Anyway, I'm 700 pages into the unabridged Les Miserables, and it is an awesome book that I think is totally worth tackling. As far as books I've read recently, I pretty much devoured 1000 Splendid Suns. It's really tragic and I probably cried during the last 40 or 50 pages, but it does have a pretty hopeful ending and it really beautifully written.

My favorite is Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice. There have been plenty of books that were more "page-turners." But there's something about Jane Austen that makes her stories classic, ones that are read again and again and that people make their own.

I just wanted to add my comment because I think your blog is fun :) But one of my all-time favorite books is Jane Eyre. I love how her strong, pure spirit conquers his rough, hurt one and the ending is romantically suspenseful (if that even makes sense *haha*). Highly recommend it!

I disqualify myself from the "sweepstakes", but I wanted to share some of my favorite books.

1.The Count of Monte Cristo - It is a bit wordy, but great. I love the triumphant feeling I get in each moment The Count reveals his true identity to one of his enemies.

2.Ender's Game - Many might avoid it, because it is Sci-Fi, but it is fantastic. Character psychology is well developed, and really makes them believable.

3.The Shining - Another great "psychological" book. The movie doesn't do it justice.

4.A Clockwork Orange - Probably the most disturbing book on my little list (although The Shining is a challenger). Clockwork is one of the more thought provoking books I have read.
